What to expect from UKC in 2020

There are a few new championships on the British Karting scene for 2020. One of the most interesting being the Ultimate Kart Championship. The championship has some big things coming for this year. Here is what you can expect.

Broadcast alongside Formula 1

Yeah, you read that right. The UKC will be broadcast alongside the Formula 1 World Championship on SkySports F1. The series will have a 1 hour programme for each of the 7 rounds, put out 2 weeks after each race that is repeated throughout the month. Add to the fact that Jake Sanson will be calling the action through the season, this should be huge for the British karting and the general karting scene.

The best tracks in the country

We have already covered the UKC calendar for 2020, but it is still worth a mention. The series will visit GYG, Shenington, Rowrah, Larkhall, Whilton Mill, Llandow and Fulbeck. All of these tracks produce fantastic racing and are certainly a favourite with drivers.

The biggest teams in the country

The guys over at UKC have been showing off some of the teams and drivers that have signed up for the 2020 season. The first of which was Fusion Motorsport who will be fielding drivers in all of the Iame classes. They are joined by Sam Pollit Racing who have been making waves in the British championship scene. Next up was PMR Driver Program who will be putting their cadet knowledge to use in the new Super Cadet class. The final team announced so far is Ben Hingley’s Ultimate Race Developments.

The Re-Launch of Super Cadet in the UK

Super Cadet is not a new class to the UK. However, it was last seen when Formula Kart Stars was still a thing back in 2015. The concept of super cadet is simple: More Grip, More Power, Closer Racing. The class will use the Iame Gazelle engine used in regular cadets, but with a larger manifold. Couple that with the stickier Komet K1D-M tyres, these machines should be significantly quicker than the standard cadets. With it being a new class, it should also provide a level playing field while teams and drivers figure out the engines.

Huge Prizes!

One of the big selling points of the series are the prizes on offer. As well as cash prizes for the winners, the series has been building a portfolio of partners who will be providing prizes during the season. One of the big ticket prizes announced so far goes to their senior X30 champion. They will receive an F4 test day with power house squad Carlin as well as free entry into the British F4 scholarship where they have the chance of winning £35,000 towards a season in F4.

All in all, the UKC is looking like a fantastic place to race and get noticed this year. If you want to find out more or get registered, head over to their website.
